How to Recover a lost password of your facebook account


If you can't remember the login password of your facebook account, there is still a chance that you can easily recover your lost password, as long as the password is stored in your computer by the Web browser you use.

You can try to recover your facebook password by using the WebBrowserPassView utility. This utility can recover the password from 4 different Web browsers - Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Google Chrome.

How to Recover a lost password of your Gmail account


If you can't remember the login password of your Gmail account, there is still a chance that you can easily recover your lost password, as long as the password is stored in your computer by the email software or by the Web browser that you use.

There are 2 freeware utilities that can help you to recover your lost Gmail password: Mail PassView to recover the password from popular email clients, like Outlook and Windows Live Mail,

and WebBrowserPassView, to recover the password from your Web Browser.

How to show drive letters in My Computer view


To display drive-letters, use these steps:


  • Click Start, Run and type Regedit.exe
  • Navigate to the following location:
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer
  • If not already exists, create a REG_DWORD value named ShowDriveLettersFirst
  • Double-click ShowDriveLettersFirst and set its Value data to 0/1/2/4 value
  • Exit the Registry Editor
Here are the other possible data for ShowDriveLettersFirst registry value:
  • 0: how drive letters after description (default) 
  • 1: Show network drive letters before description, and local drive letters after description 
  • 2: No drive letter is displayed 
  • 4: Show drive letters before description

Disinstallare Windows Search


Avete installato Windows Search poi avete usato CCleaner...
Sfortunatamente CCleaner considera Windows Search come "hotfix", cioè le patch di Windows Update. Cosi rimuove i file necessari alla disinstallazione e siete fregati perché non si può più rimuovere da pannello di controllo né manualmente.
Allora siete andati sul sito Microsoft e avete scaricato l'installer di Windows Search "WindowsSearch-KB940157-XP-x86-enu.exe" per installarlo e quindi disinstallarlo.
Sfortunatamente questo installa Windows Search ma non ricrea la voce in "pannello di controllo - installazione applicazioni" e nemmeno la directory "$NtUninstallKB940157$" dentro Windows (che serve per la disinstallazione manuale).

Soluzione:

  1. create manualmente un punto di ripristino.
  2. cancellate queste due chiavi dal registro di sistema (via regedit):
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP3\KB940157
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\KB940157
  3. reinstallate lo "exe" di cui sopra.
  4. Adesso potete trovare la directory "$NtUninstallKB940157$".
    • Aprite questa dir e cercate la dir "spuninst".
    • Dentro trovate un file che si chiama "spuninst.exe".
    • Lanciate questo file e Windows Search dovrebbe essere completamente rimosso.
